Revegetation of alumina refinery wastes. 2. Glasshouse experiments

, : Revegetation of alumina refinery wastes. 2. Glasshouse experiments. Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture and Animal Husbandry 17(98): 689-695

In the absence of chemical limitations, the emergence and yield of Rhodes grass on a 20% fly ash/80% red sand (waste from an Al2O3 refinery) mixture were higher than those on fly ash or red sand alone or on the other mixtures investigated. The poor emergence and yield in the red sand was attributed to the medium's low available water capacity and low unsaturated hydraulic conductivity.
