480 Harco Red X Rock sex-linked hens were housed 2 to a cage with a floor area of 25.4 X 45.7 cm, and 1392 hens were housed 3 to a cage with a floor area of 30.5 X 45.7 cm. In the larger cages, 600 birds had the feed trough along the short side and 792 birds had the trough along the long side of the cage. Some groups in all types of cage were fed ad lib. and some were restricted to 95% of ad lib. consumption.
