This workshop represented an attempt to create awareness, in the development of an essentially rural-based industry, of the potential for increasing the availability of protein-rich food, employment generation and income distribution. Emphasis was placed on the development of technologies which would bring agriculture and industry, villages and towns, close together. The need for promotion of technical co-operation among developing countries in the dairy industry was recognized.
