Review of comments on the cost-benefit study of the improvement of dairy industry structure

, : Review of comments on the cost-benefit study of the improvement of dairy industry structure. Agrarwirtschaft 24(9): 233-239

A brief account is given of the results of the cost-benefit analysis of the programme to improve the Federal German dairy industry carried out by H. Bulow et al. in 1974 The study concluded that the net capital value of the programme was (minus) DM 2327 million. The detailed criticisms of the methods by which this figure was reached are discussed and the general problems of such cost-benefit studies are considered. Such studies are so complex that they can only be evaluated by specialists.
