, : Review of effects of aquatic herbicides. Ecological effects of pesticides: Linnean Society Symposium Series No 5: 111-118

When aquatic herbicides were first used their possible adverse effect on the human population was not fully appreciated. The wide ecological changes they can produce are now better understood and this paper reviews the information now available showing how herbicide use can be changed to reduce the risk to organisms other than weeds.The direct effects of herbicides on emergents, floating-leaved and submerged weeds are examined as well as their effect on fish and freshwater invertebrates.
