Review of existing knowledge of ruminants in the highlands of northern Thailand

, : Review of existing knowledge of ruminants in the highlands of northern Thailand. Thai Journal of Agricultural Science 10(2): 111-119

Ruminant husbandry in the highlands of N. Thailand is reviewed. The pastures in this region of shifting cultivation consist of mixed grasses on limestone soils, and are dominated by Imperata cylindrica on granite soils. Heavy grazing encourages weed invasion of I. cylindrica pastures. Successful oversowing of uncultivated overgrazed savannas with Desmodium intortum Greenleaf is reported.
