Review of forage losses caused by rangeland grasshoppers

, : Review of forage losses caused by rangeland grasshoppers. Miscellaneous Publication, Agricultural Research Service, United States Department of Agriculture (1348): [1+] 22

Research studies on forage losses caused by grasshoppers in the USA are reviewed with special reference to food preferences, densities, habitat, grazing influence, weather, human influence and physiological factors and their relation to losses. A list is provided of about 25 species that are the most destructive, with an indication of their preferred food-plants and their area of potential damage. Estimated amounts of forage lost are given for populations and for several economic species.
