Review of herbicide trials on sugarcane

, : Review of herbicide trials on sugarcane. [Mimeograph of paper presented at the Ghana Weed Science Conference, February 1977]: 7

In field trials carried out at Kpong, Asutsuare and Komenda, Bladex (cyanazine), simazine, atrazine and ametryne gave very good weed control in sugar-cane. Their effects were enhanced by the addition of 2,4-D, especially in the case of atrazine and ametryne. Application of the mixture containing 2.5 kg each of atrazine and ametryne + 2,4-D at 5 litres/ha followed by spot weeding was cheaper than manual weeding and is now the standard treatment on Ghana sugar estates.
