Studies on the digesta distribution in the GIT of pigs fed high-test molasses or maize. 1. Stomach phase

, : Studies on the digesta distribution in the GIT of pigs fed high-test molasses or maize. 1. Stomach phase. Cuban Journal of Agricultural Science 9(3): 291-298

1. Eight 20-kg pigs were employed to study the effect of maize meal (MZ, 77.5%) or high-test molasses (HTM, 63.7%) on the distribution of digesta in the digestive tract (GIT) 1.5 h after feeding. GIT segments studied were stomach, proximal and distal small intestine, caecum and colon. Water:DM intake was higher (P<0.05) in the HTM diet (2.90) than in the MZ diet (1.98).
