This monograph is the result of 15 years of study, during which 51 species were identified: Silvius (Nerorius) vitripennis, Chrysops turanicus, Heterochrysops (three species), Turanochrysops (two species), Hybomitra (13 species), Atylotus (5 species), Tabanus (23 species), Haematopota (3 species). The harmful effects of these flies and their role as disease vectors are discussed on pages 197 to 199.
