The effect of soil improvement on the nodule formation and plant growth of some leguminous crops in saline areas of the Nile delta

, : The effect of soil improvement on the nodule formation and plant growth of some leguminous crops in saline areas of the Nile delta. Agrokemia es Talajtan 23(1/2): 111-120

A saline and an alkaline sand soil, both unsuitable for crop growth, were improved by various numbers of flood irrigations and addition of different quantities of gypsum. Cowpea and broad beans were used as indicator crops. Improvement led to satisfactory nodule formation, N content and DM production in both crops on both soils.
