The organization of pest control in cotton growing in the Gezira-Managil project in the Sudan

, : The organization of pest control in cotton growing in the Gezira-Managil project in the Sudan. Zeitschrift fur Auslandische Landwirtschaft 15(4): 493-504

The organization of pest control in the Gezira scheme is clearly structured and guarantees quick spraying when pests occur. The organization's main characteristics are (a) the centralized activities with economies of scale, particularly in purchase of chemicals and the hiring of companies for their application and (b) the decentralization of the decision on when to spray and the control of spraying by entomologists.
