Thermal decomposition characteristics of humus horizons from Culbin forest

, : Thermal decomposition characteristics of humus horizons from Culbin forest. Journal of Thermal Analysis 8: 117-124

Different layers of 4 soil profiles from an area of dune sand planted with trees since 1922 were sampled to study the transformations occurring during humification of litter. The profiles were of soil under Birch (Betula alba) with ground cover of Birch leaf litter, and under Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) with either Pine needle litter or moss as predominant ground cover. Ground limestone had been applied in 1968 in one area under Scots Pine.
