Three new crustacean hosts for the parasitic dinoflagellate Hematodinium perezi (Dinoflagellata: Syndinidae)

, : Three new crustacean hosts for the parasitic dinoflagellate Hematodinium perezi (Dinoflagellata: Syndinidae). Journal of Parasitology 64(1): 158-160

One male of 155 Ovalipes ocellatus and 2 males of 518 Cancer irroratus from the New York Bight Apex, USA, were found to be infected with Haematodinium perezi. One (unsexed) of 180 C. orroratus and 5 (2 females and 3 unsexed) of 125 C. borealis, from the continental shelf and slope waters off Delaware, were also infected. The pathology is described.
