Triatomine bugs and the household ecology of Chagas's disease

, : Triatomine bugs and the household ecology of Chagas's disease. Medical entomology centenary Symposium proceedings, 23-25 November, 1977: 85-93

The history of the discovery of Trypanosoma cruzi by Chagas is briefly described to show that, from the outset, the disease (Chagas's disease) and its vectors were seen as a household entity. The role of triatomine bugs in the household ecology of Chagas's disease is then discussed, using the results of detailed studies of 2 families in Sao Felipe, Brazil.
