Tropical legumes increase milk production

, : Tropical legumes increase milk production. Queensland Agricultural Journal 102(4): 331-333

The legume content in pastures is optimum when they contain about 50% legume for 2-3 months of the year, thus supplying adequate N for good grass growth and providing forage of high CP and digestibility values. As stocking rates increased above 1.3 cows/ha, legume contents decreased and to maintain a stable high-quality pasture in the Atherton Tableland area, the optimum stocking rate was 1.6 cows/ha for a green panic/glycine (Glycine wightii) Tinaroo pasture.
