Zinc in serum and urine of diabetics

, : Zinc in serum and urine of diabetics. Journal of the Egyptian Medical Association 59(7-12): 597-601

Serum and 24-urine were obtained from 53 diabetic patients and 50 controls; 12 of the patients required insulin, the others were controlled on tolbutamide. Serum Zn in the diabetics was normal both before and after treatment. Zn in 24-h urine was above the normal range in diabetics before treatment; it fell to normal in those treated with tolbutamide but remained high in insulin-treated diabetes.
