A survey of sap-transmissible viruses of lucerne in New Zealand

, : A survey of sap-transmissible viruses of lucerne in New Zealand. New Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research 22(4): 637-640

Of 3 sap-transmissible viruses detected in symptomless lucerne crops in a national survey in New Zealand, alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV) is known also to be transmissible by aphids and was found in 2.3% of the samples collected. It is transmitted in a non-persistent manner by at least 13 species of aphids, and of the known vectors Aulacorthum solani (Kalt.) was commonly found on lucerne crops in the years preceding the survey.
