Action of carbon dioxide on the larval diapause of Gryllus capestris (Orthoptera)

, : Action of carbon dioxide on the larval diapause of Gryllus capestris (Orthoptera). Comptes Rendus Hebdomadaires des Seances de l' Academie des Sciences, D 287(16): 1401-1404

Nymphs of Gryllus campestris L. in the fourth to seventh instars were treated for 1 min daily for 10-23 days with carbon dioxide, causing anaesthesia, and the results were compared with those previously obtained from similar treatment of Locusta migratoria (L.) In L. migratoria, the treatment was not toxic in any way but had effects similar to those of isolation, orienting the colour and behaviour of the nymphs towards those typical of the solitary phase.
