An economic analysis of alternative grain distribution systems in Western Ohio

, : An economic analysis of alternative grain distribution systems in Western Ohio. Dissertation Abstracts International, A 39(10): p. 6252

Among the several transportation modes serving rural areas, railroads are the mainstay of the grain transportation system. This study evaluates the economic significance of rail abandonment policies for grain producing and handling firms in West Central Ohio. Results suggest that the abandonment of seven branch rail lines had an adverse impact on net revenue to the region's producers although the loss was not substantial (0.18%).
