Beef production systems in the Rio Doce region, Minas Gerais

, : Beef production systems in the Rio Doce region, Minas Gerais. Revista Ceres 25(142): 573-592

The world deficit in beef supply is particularly important to Brazil since this country has the fourth largest cattle herd in the world. Poor resource combinations which imply low rates of return on investment in beef production are the major problem in the sector. This study attempts to provide information to improve technical and economic efficiency in beef production in the Zona da Mata of the State of Minas Gerais. A random sample of 130 farms from three districts was used.
