Bladder worm of the rat, Trichosomoides crassicauda: research into its development, transmission and diagnosis

, : Bladder worm of the rat, Trichosomoides crassicauda: research into its development, transmission and diagnosis. Berliner und Munchener Tierarztliche Wochenschrift 93(7): 132-135

Forty rats were infected orally with 50 to 70 ova of Trichosomoides crassicauda and later 3 rats were killed each week for examination. Other animals were infected and examined according to circumstances. The prepatent period before ova appear in the urine is 8 to 10 weeks (7 to 12). The larvae pass from the alimentary canal to the lungs and finally to the urinary organs via the abdominal and chest cavities, and also via the circulating blood.
