Breeding grape for seedlessness

, : Breeding grape for seedlessness. Doklady TSKhA (231): 90-97

In work during 1958-75, 85 crosses were made between seeded and seedless varieties and 5507 hybrid seedlings were obtained. Seedless forms segregated in only 43 crosses. The percentage of seedless hybrids depended more on the female than on the male parent. The best results were obtained using new hybrid varieties of the eastern group as female parents. The inheritance of seedlessness was analysed in 1217 hybrids from 29 crosses.
