Cassava, a new look at an old crop

, : Cassava, a new look at an old crop. Queensland Agricultural Journal 105(1): 58-71

The development of cassava in Queensland is reviewed; at present <250 ha of this crop are grown. The production of cassava overseas and its uses are outlined. A list of introduced into Queensland is given. Research into cassava and its agronomy is briefly reivewed. Tuber yields in Australia range from >100 t/ha at South Johnstone, an area with tropical climate and high rainfall, to <58.2 t/ha at Coolum on the coastal lowlands.
