Several compounds closely related to the arylterpenoid juvenile hormone-mimicking compound AI3-36206 [9-(p-isopylphenyl)-2-methoxy-2,6-dimethylnonane] were prepared and assayed against the house fly [Musca domestica L.] Compounds exhibited maximum activity when the para substituent C carried only 1 H atom.
