Contribution to the histological development of the above-ground vegetative organs of reed grass (Glyceria aquatica (L.) Wahlb.) in different ecophases: stems and leaf sheaths

, : Contribution to the histological development of the above-ground vegetative organs of reed grass (Glyceria aquatica (L.) Wahlb.) in different ecophases: stems and leaf sheaths. Sbornik Vysoke Skoly Zemedelske v Praze, Fakulta Agronomicka, A (1): 31-47

The proportions of the various types of tissue were compared in ecotypes of G. aquatica from fully aquatic, semi-aquatic, littoral and terrestrial habitats. In stem sections, the areal proportion of vascular bundles, sclerenchyma, parenchyma and aerenchyma (air channels in the leaf sheaths) were 21.8, 29.2, 46.0 and 3.0%, resp. in the littoral ecotype, compared with 18.7, 25.0, 17.9 and 38.4% in the terrestrial ecotype.
