Covering energy requirements in summer and winter rations of cows according to lactation stage, and effects on metabolism

, : Covering energy requirements in summer and winter rations of cows according to lactation stage, and effects on metabolism. Veterinarstvi 30(6): 260-263

Results of analyses of 175 summer and 308 winter rations regarding the extent they satisfy energy requirements of dairy cows are tabulated and discussed. It was found that the rations were inadequate during the first stage of lactation in both winter and summer periods and excessive during the mid-stage of lactation leading to overfeeding of cows with declining yields.
