Cowpea insect pests in Tanzania

, : Cowpea insect pests in Tanzania. Proceedings of IITA collaborators meeting on grain legume improvement [Luse, RA; Rachie, KO Editors]: 89-94

In Tanzania av. cowpea seed yield was 300 kg/ha where no insect control was practised. In 1972-4 yield was significantly increased in both seasons to 0.9-1.25 t/ha by treatment with 1 kg endosulfan a.i./ha in 2 applications at 6 and 7 wk after sowing. Increasing the number of applications to 4 did not increase the yield significantly over that with 2 applications.
