Clarified leaf extracts of cowpea showing little leaf symptoms contained a virus specific antigen which reacted strongly with antisera made against bean rugose mosaic, bean pod mottle, blackgram mottle, broad bean wilt (type 1) and southern bean mosaic (cowpea str.) viruses. BRMV, BPMV and BGMV showed precipitin lines which fused, thus suggesting serological identity. Isometric particles 25 and 30 nm diam. were noted in the electron microscope.
