Cowpea severe mosaic virus a constraint on the improvement of cowpea cultivation in Suriname

, : Cowpea severe mosaic virus a constraint on the improvement of cowpea cultivation in Suriname. Bulletin, Agricultural Experiment Station, Paramaribo (104): 22

In tests with cowpea lines from Nigeria only 12 showed resistance to CSMV but susceptible plants showed mature plant resistance starting at 35 days. In the glasshouse the virus was translocated from the primary to trifoliate leaves of young cowpea plants in 1 h. Infectivity increased in young plants up to 28 days after inoculation but remained at a significant level throughout the life of the plant.
