Cropping recommendations based on computerized floristic weed analysis

, : Cropping recommendations based on computerized floristic weed analysis. Abstracts 1978 Meeting Weed Science Society of America: 91

Using a computer terminal, the Plant Taxonomy Laboratory at Beltsville can determine the ecological amplitudes (min. and max. pH, annual precipitation and annual mean temp.) for over 2000 weeds. Modes for these parameters are also calculated. Based on climatic data the computer system can generate broad brush life zone (isohyet or isohyet + isotherm) maps for various countries and estimate the suitability of the zones for various exotic weeds.
