Infection by R. solani was most severe on early cvs. Development of the Hypochnus solani (Thanatephorus cucumeris) state continued on the tubers after the tops had died, particularly in warm, wet weather. The disease appeared in early July on early cvs. and 4-6 days later on medium-early cvs.
