Effects of energy restriction and cafeteria refeeding on thermogenesis in the rat

, : Effects of energy restriction and cafeteria refeeding on thermogenesis in the rat. Journal of Physiology 301: 29P-30P

Rats, with bodyweight reduced to 86% of normal by restricted food intake, were given a cafeteria diet made up of different palatable items. After 3 days bodyweight had returned to normal and from them the rats were given a stock diet. Oxygen consumption(VO2) of these rats, rats refed on the stock diet and groups of normal rats given the stock or cafeteria diet was estimated before and after withdrawal of the palatable foods.
