Forest and shade trees. Diseases

, : Forest and shade trees. Diseases. Cooperative Plant Pest Report 5(20): 383

Bursaphelenchus lignicolus, a nematode pathogen of pine trees in various states of the USA, is recorded for the first time in North America as associated with adults of a cerambycid. In Florida, adults of Monochamus carolinensis (Ol.) collected in April 1980 from Pinus clausa near Gainesville in Alachua County were found to contain large numbers of dauer larvae of B. lignicolus, and other larvae of B. lignicolus were found infecting dead and dying trees in the area.
