Haematological observations in splenectomized Theileria carrier sheep

, : Haematological observations in splenectomized Theileria carrier sheep. Gujarat Agricultural University Research Journal 4(2): 57-58

Haematological observations were made on 4 Bandur sheep carrying Theileria hirci, before and for several weeks after splenectomy. 4 to 8 days after splenectomy the parasite count rapidly increased from 0.6% to 50% between the 16th and 24th days. Blood values of all the sheep deviated from the normal range between 6 and 10 days after splenectomy and the changes corresponded with the rate of recrudescent parasitaemias.
