Identification and characterization of poxviruses isolated from a falcon and a parrot from their behaviour in egg culture, and from serological reactions and host range in animal experiments

, : Identification and characterization of poxviruses isolated from a falcon and a parrot from their behaviour in egg culture, and from serological reactions and host range in animal experiments. Die Identifizierung und Charakterisierung eines Falkenpocken und eines Psittacidenpockenvirus aufgrund ihres Verhaltens in der Eikultur, sowie serologischer Reaktionen und ihres Wirtsspektrums im Tierversuch: 87

An avipox virus ("VK 984/76") isolated from pox lesions on the leg of Hierofalco cherrug imported from Afghanistan, showed similar but not identical behaviour to chicken and turkey poxviruses when cultured in embryonated chicken eggs. Neutralization and immunodiffusion tests revealed antigen components identical to those of pigeon, chicken and turkey poxviruses. Partial immunity to the last two was demonstrated.
