Between 1973 and 1976, 1000 samples of skin were taken from pigs slaughtered at Netzahualcoyotl in the State of Mexico. Demodex phylloides Csokor was found in 50% of the samples taken from the eyelid, 24% of those from the corner of the mouth, 7.4% of those from the axilla and 6% of those from the neck. The mite was not found in any of the samples taken from the back or chest.
