Isolation of a parvovirus from dogs in Britain

, : Isolation of a parvovirus from dogs in Britain. Veterinary Record 105(8): 167-168

A parvovirus was identified by electron microscopy in faecal and intestinal material from young dogs with sudden onset of vomiting and the passing of profuse, watery greyish faeces sometimes flecked with blood. The virus was cultured in a continuous dog kidney cell line (GH) and a feline embryonic cell line (FEA); propagation was best in the latter. Parvovirus-like particles were also identified in one case of myocarditis.
