Symptoms of this disease are described on M. elengi growing in the Saugar University campus. (The tree is grown in northern, western peninsular, and southern India and its bark, leaves and flowers are used for extraction of maulsari oil, brown dye, and medicine.) Pestalotiopsis versicolor was isolated from infected leaves, and a spore suspension successfully used to inoculate healthy leaves from which the pathogen was re-isolated.
