Mechanisms of hatching of larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale

, : Mechanisms of hatching of larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale. Indian Journal of Parasitology 2(1): 7-9

During hatching of larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale head waving was the first activity to be observed. The head of the larva, just before emergence, was found to be pressed firmly against the egg membrane. At the time of emergence, a split occurred at the pole and the larva squeezed out. Recently hatched larvae became immobile for a while but soon head waving and oesophageal pumping began.
