Merchants of grain: the power and profits of the five giant companies at the centre of the world's food supply

The multi million dollar global food trade is controlled by a small group of giant but family owned USA-based companies with enormous influence. This book documents the companies' role in the global food crisis of 1973-74, the sales of grain to the USSR, and other political events involving the grain trade. It illustrates how decisions are made in private and on the Chicago commodity market, and how the USA has used its political grain power.
