2. In several trials with chickens, standard maize, Opaque-2 hybrid maize, field beans, white sweet lupin, rapeseed oilmeal, soya bean oilmeal or fodder yeast as sole protein source were tested with or without one or more supplementary amino acids, together or separately or in different amounts in relation to crude protein content. Apart from the limiting amino acid (DL-methionine or L-lysine), L-histidine, L-arginine and L-threonine were included.
