Protein utilization in correlation to protein intake

, : Protein utilization in correlation to protein intake. Physiologia Bohemoslovaca 29(1): 37-47

For 14 days weanling rats 30 days old and adults weighing 290 g were given diets of equal energy value and with 5, 10, 15, 25 or 40% casein. Weanling rats given diets with 25 or 40% casein and adults given diets with 15, 25 or 40% casein had protein efficiency ratio (PER), net protein ratio, net protein utilization, liver protein utilization and activity of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase and pyruvate kinase in the liver which were all decreased.
