This paper includes comparative data for the carcass yield and grade of chickens reared (i) in battery cages and (ii) on deep litter. Values for (i) and (ii) were, resp.: carcass yield 79.2 and 74.8%; Percent grade I carcasses 82.8 and 73.1; Percent grade II carcasses 12.7 and 20.90%; and percent grade III carcasses 5.5 and 6.0.
