Research and production programmes on oilseed crops in India

, : Research and production programmes on oilseed crops in India. Technology for increasing food production [Holmes, JC Editor]: 676-682

Research and breeding programmes for groundnut, rape, mustard, sunflower, safflower, soyabean and castor are briefly described. Av. groundnut, mustard and castor yields in India in 1971-4 were 752, 528 and 359 kg/ha, resp. New improved groundnut increased total pod yield by 10.2% and oil content by 3-4%. Improved mustard and rape yielded 1.5-1.9 t and 1.0-1.8 t seed/ha, resp.
