The effects of long-term exposures to SO2 and NO2 pollution on the growth of Dactylis glomerata L. and Poa pratensis L

, : The effects of long-term exposures to SO2 and NO2 pollution on the growth of Dactylis glomerata L. and Poa pratensis L. Environmental Pollution 18(4): 249-258

The effects of 6.8 p.p.h.m. SO2 or NO2 applied alone and in combination at 194 mu g/m3 were examined on the growth of (a) D. glomerata and (b) P. pratensis over 20 wk during winter. In both spp., SO2 applied alone or with NO2 significantly reduced leaf area and dry wt. of all plant parts. These were associated with reductions in the numbers of tillers and leaves produced by both spp. in SO2 + NO2, and by (b) in SO2 only.
