The origin, morphology and agronomic characters of the new 6-row winter barley Miyuki-omugi are described. This is resistant to sprouting, snow mould and chilling injury and is moderately resistant to powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis) and leaf rust (Puccinia hordei).
