The number of seeds in pansy (Viola wittrockiana) pods in relation to pollination method

, : The number of seeds in pansy (Viola wittrockiana) pods in relation to pollination method. Sbornik UVTIZ, Zahradnictvi 4(3/4): 237-246

Three methods of pollination (open pollination, and spontaneous and artificial self-pollination) were compared in 3 pansy cvs at 2 stages of plant development (early and full bloom). Seed numbers/pod varied considerably with cv., pollination method and date, and the interactions between the 3 factors are discussed. The cvs Zluta s Okem (Yellow with Eye), Svetle Modra (Light Blue) and Bila Pani (White Lady) produced on average 37.18, 32.86 and 20.35 seeds/pod, respectively.
