The occurrence of juvenile hormone specific esterases in insects. A comparative study

, : The occurrence of juvenile hormone specific esterases in insects. A comparative study. Proceedings of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen, C 82(3): 325-331

Studies were carried out on the activities of juvenile hormone specific and general carboxylesterases in the haemolymph of a number of insect species, and the values of the half-life of injected juvenile hormone were determined. The activity of JH-specific esterases showed large differences between the insects studied, being very high in Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say) and L. haldemani (Rogers) and extremely low in Musca domestica L., Apis mellifera L. and Periplaneta americana (L.).
