A gene affecting protein composition of pea seed

, : A gene affecting protein composition of pea seed. Heredity 45(1): 138

A large range of genotypes, seven near-isogenic lines and segregating populations were analysed for the proportion of legumin present in mature seed. In addition to its effect on starch quantity and quality and on the sugar content of the seed, the ra locus was found to affect the amount of legumin accumulated. The effects of mutation at this locus have been compared with those of mutants affecting protein composition in cereals.
